Turmeric, or Curcuma longa is of the ginger family. It has been used throughout Asia for thousands of years as a spice and for its healing properties. It is used in classic Indian medicine for everything from reducing inflammation, to acting as an intracellular protectant from cancerous tumors, to reducing blood clots. Turmeric by itself is not readily absorbed by the body, so it is always best to sprinkle a pinch of black pepper that contains the alkaloid, piperine, because it increases the potency of turmeric by up to 2000%. We use this exceptional quality dried turmeric root in our Turmeric and Ginger tea, as well as in our herbal chai blends.
Brewing- 1 1/2 tsp/2 g for every 12 oz of water at 195°F, steep for 5-10 minutes
