Peru never lets us down, from light to dark, this coffee can handle any roast. We find this coffee is medium bodied, well-balanced, creamy, and filled with notes of milk chocolate, caramel, and a hint of citrus.
We are happy to have La Forida back as an offering. Since incorporating in 1966, 50 small-scale farmers have grown to close to 1,000 at its peak. This co-op has been able to afford its members significant socio-economic benefit while allowing for ideal protection of the environment. Because La Florida believes education is the primary to key to continued success, it has built training programs, workshops on coffee production and management sessions for community youth. Part of the growth in education has lead to development of paved roads, several libraries, and funding for school uniforms and community gardens. It also teaches its members how to grow coffee sustainably, protect soil from erosion, and restore fertility to land, naturally, so the immense resources of the Amazon Rainforest are protected. Its members are paid a fair wage for their coffee, are given building and construction supplies to improve their own standards of life, and have achieved better practices in coffee production.
